Fall 2012 Current Social Events
Calling all Graduate, Professional and Post-Doctoral Students! Tired of homework? Wish you could get a break from all the stress? Come and join your fellow graduate students for fun, relaxation and good conversation. (To suggest an event or contact the Social Events Committee, .)
The GSA Social Events Committee plans events each month for graduate students and their families. Below are the highlights for the Fall Semester. Be sure to check back or sign up for the listserv for more event details.
Monthly Ethics Discussion Lunches
To promote discussion about the ethical issues that affect us, the Center for the Teaching & Study of Applied Ethics and the GSA will be co-hosting a FREE monthly lunch forum specifically for graduate students from across the university.
That's right: as last years monthly graduate student Ethics Lunches were such a hit (and who doesnt love free food?!?), were bringing them back. Suggest topics that we can debate and delight over!
Officially: UNL's Ethics Center and the GSA invite graduate students, professional students, and post-docs to join a monthly conversation about ethics. We play a number of different roles in the University - in addition to being students, we serve as teaching assistants, researchers, future professionals, and current professionals. This unique position creates a relatively unique set of ethical concerns.

Fundraising Events
At the end of the Fall and Spring semesters each year, the GSA holds a Book Drive to support various organizations by providing quality books. Many of the donations we collect go to Better World Books.
What is Better World Books?
Better World Books is a self-sustaining, for-profit social venture whose mission is to capitalize on the value of the book to fund literacy initiatives locally, nationally and around the world. Better World Books has partnered up with such organizations at the National Center for Family Literacy (NCFL) and Books for Africa (BFA). Books donated by UNL have gone to help both of these organizations in the past. For more information please visit Better World Books and National Center for Family Literacy.
How can you help with our Book Drive?
Save textbooks that you no longer wish to keep until the end of the semester. Then, donate your books by placing them in the green and orange bins around campus. In addition, you should encourage your friends and colleagues to do the same. We will accept any textbook or book.
