Graduate Student Ethics Forum --We're in the Daily Nebraskan not just once but twice and also have a Letter to the Editor.
UNL's Ethics Center and the GSA invite graduate students, professional students, and post-docs to join a monthly conversation about ethics. We play a number of different roles in the University - in addition to being students, we serve as teaching assistants, researchers, future professionals, and current professionals. This unique position creates a relatively unique set of ethical concerns. To promote discussion about the ethical issues that affect us, the Ethics Center and GSA will be co-hosting a monthly lunch forum specifically for graduate students from across the university. Don't forget to RSVP to get in your (free) lunch order! Contact Assistant Director of the Center for the Teaching and Study of Applied Ethics.
Monday, January 25 - 12:30pm, Avery 348
The first discussion will be on "Facebook, Privacy, and Whistleblowing."

Did you enjoy last semester's Food and Food for Thought? September's discussion topic is Giving Easy Advice: What Responsibility Do Grad Students Have to Promote the University's Broader Educational Goals?
Should graduate students champion the spirit behind the university's broader educational goals (for example, those embodied by general education requirements) or is it enough to fulfill the letter of the law of such policies? (Event flyer)

Ethics Lunch: food & food for thought! This week's topic is Encouraging Responsible Conduct of Research
What should graduate students do to encourage responsible conduct of research? Is it enough to behave responsibly ourselves? Or, do we have a responsibility to keep others in check too? How do our responsibilities regarding RCR differ from those of other members of the UNL community? Does UNL do an adequate job promoting RCR? What could/should we be doing differently? (Event flyer)
- 12:30 - 1:30 pm, East Campus Union
This month?s topic will be Student Plagiarism
What is the appropriate response when you catch one of your students cheating or committing plagiarism? What should we do to prevent this from happening in the first place? What can we do in the classroom to encourage a culture of academic integrity? (Event flyer)
