What's New with the GSA?
We are hosting the 2009 national conference for the National Association of Graduate and Professional Students (NAGPS)! The conference takes place November 14-18, 2009 and we are busily working to prepare for it! To find out more information, check out the conference page.
We are also currently working on getting the following benefits for all graduate students:
- Fee deferment for ALL graduate students (last year, we acheived this for graduate assistants)
- Key Card Access for ALL graduat students into their department's building (currently, it is university policy for only graduate assistants to have key card access).
- Student and Family Leave Rights for graduate students who are forced to miss prolonged periods of school due to illness or maternity.
Getting Involved
Become a Legislative Assembly Representative for your department
All graduate students are automatically members of GSA and are eligible to serve as departmental representatives. Each department that offers a graduate degree is allotted one representative. You will get to serve the campus-wide graduate population and meet graduate student leaders from all different departments. To see if your department is represented yet, check our list of department representatives.
Volunteer to serve on one of our standing committees
All graduate students are automatically members of GSA and are eligible to serve on any of the open committees. You may be asked to help plan or run a GSA event or just be there to help during the event. Either way you will get have the opportunity to network with graduate students across campus. See if there are committees you would be interested in.
Come to monthly meetings and/or just help out
All graduate students are welcome and encouraged to attend our monthly Legislative Assembly meetings. This is where you will learn everything that is going on regarding graduate students at UNL. If you just want to help out intermittently, email us and we will put you on the listserv.
