Spring Break Survival Kits
The UHC and Campus Rec Centers will be distributing spring break survival kits on a while they last basis March 10 - 12, 2008.Distribution Schedule:
- Monday (3/10) at the University Health Center beginning at 10 a.m. as well as at the Spring Leader Fair at the Nebraska Union from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Spring Leader Fair is sponsored by the Peer Educator Network to promote safe spring break travels. Stop by the various booths to assemble your own spring break survival kit. The Peer Educator Network is made up of peer education groups from the Health Education Department in the University Health Center and Student Involvement.
- Tuesday (3/11) at the East Campus Activities Building beginning at 10 a.m.
- Wednesday (3/12) at the Campus Rec Center beginning at 11 a.m.
- Antacid Tablets

- Condom

The following tips are intended to provide you with information which will help you make educated decidsions while on Spring Break.
Drink Responibly
- Know the alcohol laws at your destination.
- Plan ahead on how much you plan to drink.
- Do not drink in the sun.
- Only accept drinks from a licensed bartender or drinks that you pour yourself.
- Know what to do if you suspect someone has Acute Alcohol Poisoning
On the Road Tips
- Catch some Zzzzz's.
- Do not get sleep deprived.
- Drivers that drove after being awake 17 to 19 hours performed worse than those who had a blood alcohol level of .05 percent.
- Switch drivers often.
- DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE
- adhere to speed limits
In the Sun
- Use sunscreen that has a SPF of 15 or higher.
- Apply sunscreen at least 30 minutes before going in the sun.
- Avoid sun exposure during the hottest hours of the sun's rays.
- Avoid over exposure - limit your time in the sun.
- You CAN get a sunburn even if it is cloudy.
- Drink plenty of water, non-carbonated, and non-alcholic drinks, even if you do not feel thirsty.
On the Slopes
- Wear lightweight clothing that is water and wind resistant.
- Dress in layers.
- Wear a hat and gloves.
- Wear sunscreen.
- Wear sunglasses or ski goggles.
