Acute Alcohol Poisoning
Used safely, alcohol can be part of a good time, but used dangerously, alcohol can have tragic consequences. This presentation enables students to recognize the signs and symptoms of acute alcohol poisoning and learn how to respond should it occur. Our presenters discuss blood alcohol content (BAC) and provide the audience with personalized, wallet-sized BAC cards for monitoring their blood alcohol content.
Guys Buy the Drinks, Girls Call the Shots
Men and women are different - everyone knows that. But did you know that men and women respond differently to alcohol? This program educates both women and men on the different factors that affect the way the body metabolizes alcohol. "Guys Buy the Drinks, Girls Call the Shots" will give the audience information to help them monitor their BAC and get the maximum enjoyment from alcohol with the minimum amount of problems. This is one time when it's okay for the guys to tag along.
Fact or Fiction
Oftentimes, students wonder, "Where in the world can I drink?" Fact or Fiction explains just that. This interactive presentation not only highlights various drinking ages around the world, but also covers such relevant topics as local alcohol policies, calorie intake, campus norms, and the proof system. Fact or Fiction also challenges its participants to test their alcohol knowledge on these subjects and gives them the chance to win various prizes.
Serious, Scatterbrained, or Somewhere In-between
This presentation challenges students to test their knowledge of alcohol trivia in a game show-like format. Students are asked questions about state alcohol laws, UNL alcohol policies, and general alcohol facts. Teams have a chance to earn bonus points by participating in physical challenges involving beer goggles, field sobriety maneuvers, and other games requiring hand-eye coordination. It's a guaranteed good time!
Inside the Lines
83% of UNL students don't drink and drive; why not all of us? Inside the Lines attempts to raise that number by presenting audiences with straight talk about DUI detection and penalties. Inside the Lines is presented in conjunction with UNLPD and incorporates actual footage of DUI traffic stops. Beer goggles are also an optional addition to make this presentation create a lasting impression in the minds of its participants.
One Bud Wiser
This brief presentation provides students with personalized BAC cards and colored brochures explaining how to use them to monitor one's Blood Alcohol Content. Students will learn about the three BAC zones and the effects that are likely to occur in each.
