HIV Testing

Holiday Testing Site Hours:

The HIV Testing Site will be closed until May 30th and will then be open on Fridays from 2:30-4:30 pm.

When to get tested: The best time to be tested for HIV Antibodies is three months after a risk exposure. After you get tested, results are available in one week and good for 30 days. If you do not pick-up your results within 30 days, you will need to get tested again. Questions? Contact Sheri Edwards, PERSUNL Coordinator/Graduate Assistant.

Free/Anonymous and Confidential Walk-in HIV Antibody Testing using ORASURE (no needles)

Results

Results are available during test site hours the following week at the test site location used. The PERSUNL primary test site at the UHC recommends picking up results on the Friday of the following week due to occasional delays in obtaining results. Test results are provided in person only for up to 30 days after testing.

Positive HIV antibody status is a reportable communicable infection in Nebraska. The County Dept. of Health / State Testing Sites are confidential and the person can choose to remain anonymous. Nebraska law prohibits discrimination against a person based on HIV testing &/or HIV antibody status. Individuals living with AIDS are protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
