Big Red Welcome
Big Red Welcome takes over the UNL campus the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday before the school year begins in a positive effort to provide students with appealing alternatives to the party-scene.

Social Norms Campaign & Prizes
Big Red Welcome concludes with an all-University street fair on Sunday, where we handout 3000 buttons containing our social norms message for the year. After that, you'll see our prize "watch" around campus awarding cash vouchers for $10 and raffle tickets to students sporting the button on their backpacks. The campaign ends on the first evening of National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week with a raffle drawing for a gift certificate to a local mall.

National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week (NCAAW)
Each fall we dedicate one week to alcohol awareness and education in a fun way.

Do It Sober
We work with Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and a cosponsoring sorority to bring in a nationally known presenter to speak to hundreds of UNL students at the Lied Center for Performing Arts. This leads off National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week.

Purple Ribbon Campaign
We team up with Gamma Phi Beta for the Purple Ribbon Campaign in which purple ribbons are given to students all over campus in memory of UNL student Laura Cockson, who lost her life to a drunk driver. Students are encouraged to wear the ribbons on their backpacks as a pledge to not drink and drive or ride in a car with someone who has been drinking.

Jail & Bail
This fun event involves student and community leaders as well as faculty and administration. With the help of the UNL PD, participants are mock-arrested for DUI in a classroom or a public place on campus and must raise bail in order to be let free from 'jail', in the student union.

Spring Events

Safe Valentine's Day

Safe and Responsible Valentine's Day Campaign
Each Valentine's Day, we encourage students to be safe and responsible. There is a booth in the union where students can get a 'kiss' from any of us and if students sign the pledge not to drink and drive on Valentine's Day, they are entered into a raffle for a romantic dinner for two. Check the DN for other messages from Husker Choices on Valentine's Day!
Late Night Programming
East Campus Student Involvement hosts a University Night Life event that provides students with weekend entertainment in an alcohol-free environment. There is bowling, movies, game show fun, and food - ALL FREE. We host a mocktail bar with a wide sampling of non-alcoholic drinks. There are also beer goggle challenges throughout the evening.

Body Bazaar
We have a booth at the Eating Disorders Education and Prevention's Celebrate EveryBody Body Bazaar. We hope to provide information about alcohol's association with poor sexual decisions, calorie counts of popular alcoholic beverages, and the differences in the way that men and women digest alcohol.
