This interdisciplinary minor draws on a variety of fields in the humanities and social sciences to support students' learning about the social and cultural contexts of health, illness and heath care.
The minor is of particular interest to students preparing for careers in a health-related profession, but it has much to offer any student who wishes to examine health and healing as an integral part of human experience.
Requirements for the minorThe minor requires 18 credit hours of course work:
- • 3 hours from the list of core courses
- • 12 hours from the list of approved electives, one of which must be a 300 or 400 level course
- • 3 hours of HMED 397, Directed Experiences in Health Care
With the permission of the pre-health advisor and the faculty coordinator, other courses that fulfil the Program's intent may be substituted for those on the list of approved electives.
