RENTAL HOUSING LIST SERVICE

Rental Housing List Service A new, free listing service for rental housing across Nebraska has been designed to help families and individuals find rental housing and other services. People can locate rental properties in the area they want to live. The website is updated twice monthly and had 3,233 property listings as of March 1st. The website address is: www.housing.ne.gov for those who don't have access to the internet please call toll-free 1-877-428-8844.

LINCOLN AIRPORT PICKUP SERVICE FOR NEW STUDENTS

For F-1 students who will be completing their programs this semester, and are interested in applying for 12 months of work authorization to gain experience in their field of study, please come to one of the information sessions which are held at the International Affairs Office, 420 University Terrace, lower level on:

It takes approximately 90 days to receive OPT authorization from immigration, and it must be applied for before the end of the semester. It is recommended to apply as early as possible in the semester.

TRANSFER STUDENTS AND STUDENTS TRANSITIONING TO
ANOTHER
DEGREE LEVEL

If you are a new transfer student to UNL or a current student starting a new degree program here at UNL this semester and you have not checked in with International Affairs to complete your transfer or transition, you should come to International Affairs’ office, 420 University Terrace, with your I-20, passport and I-94 to check in. This must be done as soon as possible.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT AND SCHOLAR SERVICES...
ON-LINE SUBMISSION OF FORMS

Forms for International Students and Scholars can now be filled out and submitted on-line. Please be aware that some forms require supporting documentation to be submitted. Read the instructions of each form carefully. If you submit a request on-line, then please make sure that you also send the supporting documentation to the International Affairs office immediately.
TRAVEL SIGNATURES REQUIRED

If you are planning to travel outside of the U.S. this summer, you will need to have a travel signature from an International Student & Scholar Advisor on your I-20 that is not older than 6 months, a current, valid passport, and valid F-1 visa to return to the U.S. Proof of enrollment may be asked for as well. To get a travel signature, please come to the International Affairs office with your I-20. We can usually do it the same day.
For proof of enrollment, you can either get a Certificate of Enrollment from International Affairs or you can get an Enrollment Verification from Registration and Records. A letter from your department may also be acceptable. If your visa is no longer valid, you will need to go to a US Embassy or Consulate in the country you are traveling to apply for an F-1 visa. You should check the website of the US Embassy or Consulate where you intend to apply for your visa to see what their requirements are. At minimum, you will need to have financial support documentation, proof of enrollment, a valid I-20, and a valid passport.

END DATE ON I-20 OR DS-2019
Please check the end date on your I-20 or DS-2019. If you end date will be expiring soon and you need an extension of stay, it is important that you apply for an extension before your I-20 or DS-2019 expires in order to stay in valid immigration status. Please come to see an advisor if you have any questions or concerns.
PASSPORT EXPIRY DATE
Please check the expiry date in your passport. International Students and Scholars must have a valid passport for at least six months. If your passport is expiring within the next six months, you will need to contact the embassy or consulate of your home country and follow the procedures of passport renewal. You can find a listing of embassies in the U.S. at the following website: www.embassy.org
