Fulbright Testimonials

Christopher Gustafson - - Fulbright Award to Italy

I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to spend a year abroad, and even more fortunate to have spent that year in Italy. Even if Italy and the United States are both “Western” nations, there is a significant difference between our cultures and values, and living in that environment really made me reassess my actions and beliefs.

bcoon Brian Coon - Fulbright Award in Sweden
  • Building life-long friendships with people from different countries who have unique perspectives.
  • Better understanding yourself and your own perspective.
  • Seeing the beauty of other countries and appreciating your own.
J.P. Rhea - Fulbright Award in France

My Fulbright experience in France opened my mind to a whole new world of opportunities. As a result of my experiences I’m now picking up my third language as I travel around the globe working for an international food company. Don’t hesitate to study abroad; you’ll only regret it if you don’t!

Gregory Krafka - Fulbright Award in Hong Kong

My year in Hong Kong on the Fulbright Scholarship was one of the best years of my life. I met many fascinating people at my university and church who I continue to keep in touch with. While at the time I was not sure if I should defer my acceptance at Harvard Law School and commit myself to the Fulbright, I am now convinced that it was the right choice.
Melissa Kruse - Fulbright Award in Turkey

Part of my research has allowed me to observe and participate in daily life in local villages and make ethnographical correlations with the archaeological past. Every fall the women of the village come together and make enough bread to last the winter. It is rolled and cooked in flat thin layers, stacked and dried. When they are ready to eat the bread they sprinkle with water and it comes back to life.
