A native of Lincoln, Nebraska, Chad became addicted to full immersion within foreign environments while a college student in the warm colonial city of Guadalajara, Mexico. Chomping at the bit for another semester of study abroad, he returned to Guadalajara, but not until serving a summer work/study internship in Paris, France.

Shortly after receiving his BA in International Studies, History and Spanish from the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) in 1998, Chad completed an English Teaching Fellowship at the Mongolian Defense University in Ulaanbaatar where he co-managed a pilot exchange program to prepare and recruit the first Mongolian cadet for study at VMI.

Chad later joined the Peace Corps and taught English and U.S. History to college students in China's Sichuan Province. After his service, he enrolled in the Hopkins-Nanjing Center for Chinese and American Studies. After completing his studies, Chad began inspecting Chinese factories as a social compliance auditor.

Chad returned to school and earned his MA in International Economics and China Studies from the Johns Hopkins-School of Advanced International Studies in 2007. Chad's last international experience involved working briefly as a proposal manager for a British firm in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Chad is grateful to be part of the UNL International Affairs team where he can help students plan their unforgettable adventures abroad and provide welcoming assistance to our exchange student guests in their home away from home.
