Information Services Advisory Groups

Information Services (IS) is interested in comments and suggestions on the services we offer for UNL faculty, staff, and students and has four advisory groups to provide input to our organization:

Academic Senate Computational Services and Facilities Committee

The Academic Senate Computational Services and Facilities Committee is an advisory committee to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Information Services, the Chancellor, and the Academic Senate. According to Academic Senate rules, the Computational Services and Facilities Committee consists of fourteen (14) members:

  • seven faculty members appointed by the President of the Academic Senate (members shall be selected so as to give the broadest possible representation of categories of computer users),
  • the Associate Vice Chancellor for Information Services, ex officio,
  • the Director of Communications and Information Technology, IANR
  • three members appointed by the Chancellor,
  • one undergraduate student as determined by ASUN, and
  • one graduate student as determined by ASUN.

Campus-Wide Information Systems (CWIS) Advisory Committee

The CWIS Advisory Board:

  • Considers and develops recommendations for the CWIS Project Team and the Associate Vice Chancellor for Information Services regarding: policy issues; campus-wide goals and objectives; CWIS contents; and strategies and directions as they relate to the CWIS.
  • Provides input on the information technology architecture plan as it relates to the CWIS.
  • Recommends priorities regarding resources and budget related to the implementation of the CWIS.

The CWIS Advisory Board is responsible for oversight of the CWIS Support Teams: the CWIS Project Team and the CWIS Work Groups.

The Campus-Wide Information System Advisory Board consists of the following members.

Appointed Members include:

  • Dean of Libraries representing the Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (chair of the board),
  • a representative selected by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs,
  • a representative selected by the Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance,
  • a representative selected by the Vice Chancellor for Research,
  • a representative selected by the Vice Chancellor for the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources,
  • a faculty member appointed by the Academic Senate Computational Services and Facilities Subcommittee,
  • a representative from Institutional Research and Planning,
  • a representative from University Communications,
  • a undergraduate student selected by the President of ASUN,
  • a graduate student selected by the President of ASUN, and
  • a faculty member at large selected by the Academic Senate President.

Special Liaison Members
Ex-Officio Members include:

  • the four members of the CWIS Project Team,
  • the Director of Communications and Information Technology, IANR, and
  • the University Archivist.

Student Information System (SIS) Executive Committee

The SIS Executive Committee is responsible for making sure that the software adequately supports the academic and institutional policies established by UNL and the Board of Regents. The SIS Executive Committee is chaired by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.

ASUN Fees Advisory Committee

The ASUN Fees Advisory Committee annually examines the spending of student technology fee and library fee money by providing input to, and examining the proposals of Information Services and the Libraries. The committee shall also serve as the chief liaison between students, Information Services and the Libraries.

The Committee is composed of a chair, two senators, and two members-at-large. The two Senators are appointed by the Speaker. The members-at-large are appointed by the ASUN Appointments Board and approved by the Senate. The chair of the committee is the President or his/her designee.
