Bio
Barney McCoy teaches convergence, investigative and computer assisted reporting, broadcast news writing, information gathering, beginning reporting, and depth reporting courses. He received a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Kansas and a master's degree in telecommunications management from Michigan State University. McCoy is also a lecturer on convergence reporting at the Kosovo Institute of Journalism and Mass Communication in Pristina, Kosovo.
Before arriving at UNL in 2006, McCoy was a fulltime journalist for 27 years. McCoy has worked as a television and print news reporter, photographer, producer, and anchor. He has been employed by WIBW-TV, Topeka, KS., KCTV, Kansas City, MO, WKBD-TV, Detroit, MI., WILX-TV, Lansing, MI. and WBNS-TV, Columbus, OH. McCoy also worked as a contributing reporter for The Columbus Dispatch, Associated Press, CBS, CNN and the Ohio News Network.
McCoy has been honored with six Emmy awards and several other citations for journalistic excellence.
