National reputation
- We are one of 12 journalism schools participating in the Carnegie-Knight Initiative on the Future of Journalism Education.
- We are the Midwest bureau for ABC News on Campus, a partnership between the network’s news division and six of the nation’s leading J schools.
- Our students won the regional NSAC advertising competition in 2009 and were selected to go to the national competition in Washington, D.C.
International reputation
- Depth reporting projects and study abroad courses have gone to Cuba, Sri Lanka, France, Kosovo, Germany, South Africa, Mexico.
- The college has ongoing programs in Ethiopia and Kosovo, where college faculty members help train faculty and students.

- Professors come from places such as the New York Times, BusinessWeek, ABC News, the Detroit News and the Miami Herald and ad agencies such as Bailey Lauerman, Ayres, McFarland and Drier.

- Andersen Hall includes a newsroom, TV and radio studios, and advertising presentation and focus rooms.
