Internship opportunity in a publishing/non-profit environment

Mildred D. Brown Memorial Study Center Foundation

Position: Internship with the opportunity to earn valuable experience in a publishing/non-profit environment.

Pay: $15 per hour

Duration: part time (15 to 20 hours per week for a total of up to 300 hours) during Spring Semester 2009

Schedule: Flex

Responsibilities: The Intern will be responsible for various duties under the supervision of the MDBMSC board.

Duties include: Coordinating all activities for the MBMSC Junior Black Journalists Project in addition to research, writing, and submitting a monthly report of activities that are outlined in the OCF grant to support the Junior Black Journalists Project; and overseeing the archiving activities of the MDBMSC.

Position Requirements: Graduate student status (or recently graduated with a graduate degree) in journalism or communications program preferred; excellent writing, research and communication skills; proven ability to work well with youth; proficiency in MS Office Suite (mainly Word and Office, some Excel), Internet and e-mail; knowledge of CS3 InDesign or Photoshop is a plus but not required.
