Pulliam Journalism Fellowship paid internship
For the first time, UNL is being added to the list of schools visited for the Pulliam Journalism Fellowship program. The Pulliam fellowship places students - reporters, photographers, graphic artists, page designers - at either the Indianapolis Star or the Arizona Republic for a 10-week, paid summer internship. Strongest candidates have one professional internship under their belts.
Alan Blanchard, a representative for the Pulliam Journalism Fellowship, will be here Wednesday, Oct. 22. Sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board in the second-floor newsroom.
Students who meet with Mr. Blanchard AND apply directly to the program have an edge. For the recruiter visit, students need only: two writing samples, a one-page resume, and optional one-page cover letter. Again, his interview is designed to give judges additional information about the candidates.
Students who want to meet with Mr. Blanchard should also apply directly to the Pulliam Journalism program by Nov. 1. For the Pulliam program, students need: a recent photo for publicity purposes; five to 15 writing samples; three letters of recommendation; college grade transcripts. The most successful candidates have at least one summer internship at a daily newspaper.
