Emma L. Bowen Foundation for Minority Interests in Media
Announces Media Internship Recruitment Schedule for 2008

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Emma L. Bowen Foundation for Minority Interests in Media announced its recruitment schedule for 2008. The Foundation is currently recruiting for more than one hundred media internship positions in sixty-one cities around the country. Any minority student (African American, Hispanic, Asian or Native American) who is a rising high school senior, graduating high school senior or college freshman, has a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0, is interested in pursuing a career in the media industry, and plans to attend a four-year accredited college or university is eligible to apply to the Emma L. Bowen Foundation work/study program. Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal residents of the United States, and speak and write English fluently to be considered. A list of cities where the internships are available and other information about the program can be found on the Foundation's web site at www.emmabowenfoundation.com.

The available internship opportunities will be with Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB)/Native American Public Telecommunications (NAPT) in Lincoln, Neb. Attached is our 2008 Emma L. Bowen applications or it can also be accessed on-line at www.emmabowenfoundation.com. The application deadline for students entering the program for the summer of 2008 is March 31, 2008.

Established in 1989, the Emma L. Bowen Foundation for Minority Interests in Media is a non-profit organization whose mission is to create career opportunities in the media industry for minority youth through a program that focuses on scholastic achievement, direct work experience and professional development. Students in the program work at media companies each summer, from high school through college, and earn both salaries and matching scholarship funds. Over a period of up to five years, the students experience numerous aspects of corporate operations and develop company-specific skills that prepare them well for their careers, many of which begin at the companies where the students interned. While in the program students attend an annual conference in New York City each summer and a variety of regional seminars to supplement their school and work experience. This summer, more than 300 Emma L. Bowen Foundation students are interning at 42 partner companies, including some of the nation's largest and most influential media firms.
