Position Title: DVD Director/Producer/Editor

Duties/Responsibilities: (Please describe activities and functional areas where the student may be employed.)
The position will be in the Program Planning & Development unit (PPD), which is responsible for regulatory development and public education/outreach. Primary duties may include:

1) Assisting the PPD unit with the development of an air quality educational DVD. The purpose of the DVD is to educate the regulated industry about their requirements under the air quality regulations. The duties of the intern will include production, editing, and creating the DVD. There may also be opportunities to develop other outreach media materials.

2) Assisting with the planning and execution of public outreach events, including the preparation of presentation materials, arranging logistics, advertising, compilation of materials, copying, emailing, etc.

Qualifications: (Please describe qualifications required and/or desired, knowledge, skills, abilities, major, etc.)
We are looking for a candidate with excellent communication skills, both oral and written, as well as excellent interpersonal relation skills. Excellent reading comprehension skills are a must. Ability to use Sony Vegas Movie Studio or a similar media creating software, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint are essential.

Schedule: Number of hours per week/schedule: Minimum of 10 hr/week up to 40 hr/week. Opportunity to continue internship beyond the Winter/Spring Semester 2008 into Summer Semester 2008. Hours would typically be during normal business hours.

What can the student expect to learn from this experience?
The student will learn about how the State protects air quality. There will be opportunity for learning through practical application of regulations, as well as learning about how regulations are developed. The student will learn effective tools for providing education and outreach to the regulated community and the general public. The student will learn how state government works.
