Paid Summer Internship in Communications

U.S. Wheat Associates, in association with the Nebraska Wheat Board, seeks a summer intern to work in communications at its national office in Arlington, Va., minutes from D.C. The intern will have a number of duties that could include interviewing sources, writing press releases, creating promotional materials and assisting with farm policy research. The student will report to the director of communications. The ideal candidate has experience reporting and writing articles, knows about agriculture (wheat would be a bonus), and is eager to learn more about U.S. farm policy. A student who excels in the position will have the opportunity for continued work, including the possibility of overseas assignments. More background: The Nebraska Wheat Board, along with 17 other states, funds U.S. Wheat Associates, which represents U.S. wheat producers in developing markets overseas. U.S. Wheat's mission is to encourage the growth of world consumption of U.S. wheat and wheat products through a variety of activities and programs, including market analysis, trade servicing, technical assistance and consumer promotion. U.S. Wheat also has 16 overseas offices and two U.S. offices, one in Portland, Ore., and the headquarters in Arlington. Va.
Students should bring a resume, cover letter and up to five writing samples.
