Retail Advertising Account Executive
JOB SUMMARY:
The Retail Advertising Account Executive is primarily responsible for sales and service of retail advertising accounts within the assigned sales territory.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and sell retail advertising within assigned sales territory, using sales aids and market information.
- Make regular calls on established and prospective accounts within assigned sales territory to determine and evaluate needs and requirements. Develop advertising proposals aimed at satisfying those needs.
- Maintain a close working relationship with other OWH departments, including Accounting and Advertising Customer Services.
- Gather credit information and fill out credit review form for the Credit Manager, and assist in collecting delinquent accounts.
- Keep abreast of newspaper and other media advertising trends, developments and merchandising techniques.
- Process all orders and materials within established deadlines.
- Maintain accurate and complete sales records and promptly submit all required reports.
- Upon request, deliver or forward for National Advertising Department any promotional point-of-sale material that refers to national advertising schedules.
- Be aware of co-op opportunities available to assigned advertisers
- Be familiar with and know how to use advertising computer software to provide information and spec ads for use by advertising customers, including the Consumer Preference Study.
- Know Advertising Divisionís procedures and company policies.
- Develop and sell new and existing retail advertising accounts. Make calls in person and by telephone to prospective and existing accounts to evaluate and determine advertiserís needs.
- Develop and present proposals to advertisers aimed at satisfying their needs and requirements. Work closely with the Creative Services Department in advertisingís developmental phase. Create and present speculative layouts on a monthly basis.
- Prepare advertising materials including layout of ad, artwork, keying of information, completing billing tickets and information, typing of copy, communicating with Make-Up Department, and follow all required paperwork precedes to ensure correct publication of ad, including working with Advertising Customer Service Department to ensure advertiser satisfaction.
- Know and utilize all sales aids to present advertising strategies. Know and participate in all special advertising promotions. Read provided periodicals on market and industry. Regularly attend department training.
- Know and correctly apply Advertising Division and company policies and procedures, and local, state and federal laws when accepting and proofreading ads for publication.
- Resolve, in a timely and professional manner, account conflicts by working with the Credit Department; issue appropriate credit with due following division/department policy and procedure.
- Develop trust and confidence of advertisers. Develop and maintain professional rapport with assigned accounts.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or G.E.D.

- Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: Must be able to operate PC and phone system.
PHYSICAL DIMENSIONS for Lifting, Carrying, Pushing, Pulling:
Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Job involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally.
