Brian Blackwell
M.A. Journalsim
Brian Blackwell, a graduate student in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications, is aspiring to earn his Master of Arts with an emphasis in news-editorial. Brian is from Clinton, Mississippi, and graduated from Mississippi College with a degree in Communication in 2001. The reason Brian chose to pursue his Master's degree from the College of Journalism is because he knew the program would be a good fit for him and he feels that Dr. Norton cares a great deal about the students. In addition to his graduate studies, Brian serves as the College of Journalism and Mass Communications representative for the Graduate Student Association. This organization is in its second year of existence and gives graduate students a voice on campus. Adding on to his list of responsibilities, Brian is also a graduate assistant for Redwire, the College of Journalism's student magazine. In his free time, Brian enjoys attending Husker sporting events, playing sports games on his PlayStation 2, and is very involved at Southview Baptist Church. Interestingly, Brian was a batboy for one Birmingham Barons' game the year Michael Jordan played minor league baseball. His involvement in organizations and dedication to school encourage Brian to continue striving to reach his career goals which include teaching journalism at the college level and working at a newspaper.
