Brett Erickson

M.A. News-Editorial

Brett Erickson currently lives in Hastings, Nebraska, and is a graduate student in the News-Editorial program.  He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts from Hastings College in 1995, and a masters with an emphasis in English Language Arts at Hastings in 1999.  He chose CoJMC after a lengthy search of programs offering News-Editorial; however, Nebraska's reputation as a top-notch program and support of distance courses left other schools behind.  His post-graduation plans include a pursuit of a Ph.D. in journalism, focusing on press access rights and other First Amendment issues.  Erickson's hobbies include spending summers in Colorado and hiking with his daughter, reading, wilderness photography,  and building Arts & Crafts furniture.  His favorite quote is from Madison's draft of the Bill of Rights:  "...and the freedom of the press, as one of the great bulwarks of liberty, shall be inviolable."
