Recruitment

Kappa Kappa Gamma - Recruitment

The process of gaining membership to a fraternity or sorority at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is called Recruitment. It is the opportunity to ask questions, get to know the organizations on campus, and tour the many houses that are part of the Greek system at large. It is a mutual process that allows for each house to gain a new class of members and a chance for potential new members to become a part of an organization they will love.

Sorority Recruitment at the University of Nebraska- Lincoln is a four day event. This process usually takes place the week prior to the start of Fall classes, and for sororities, really kicks off the new year. Within these four days, prospective members have the chance to ask questions, tour houses, get acquainted with ladies from the different organizations, and find out what each house has to offer and see which sorority is the best fit for them.

Bid Day

When the last day of Recruitment comes after a week of meeting many girls and making tough decisions, it's time for some fun! Walking (or running) to the house you have just joined can be the most exciting time of your college experience thus far. The ladies of Kappa Kappa Gamma will greet you with open arms and fun activities.

To begin Bid Day, as it is called at UNL, all the ladies of Kappa Kappa Gamma (old and new) will meet on the front lawn. After introductions and a chance to meet the other girls that picked Kappa (your new member class), the New Member Chair will lead a day of fun. With events like bowling, movies, snacks, and different things around campus, Bid Day is a chance to see what each member brings to this wonderful house you will call home!

Kappa New Member Program

Our New Member Program is a six week process which includes fun activities within the chapter like our newest philanthropy, Kappa Karnival, Sneak (decorating live-ins' rooms), Inspiration Week, and ending with Initiation. Each new member receives a Key Sis to help them get acquainted with the house and its ideals. New members and the woman in the class above them participate in many social events like ice cream in the Haymarket, Girls Night In, and Grey's Anatomy Night to help get acquainted before Key Sisters are assigned. Then after a few weeks of bonding, the girls have the opportunity to "pref" who they would like as their Key Sis. Once Key Sisters are matched up, the new members are ready for initiation and receive special gifts from their Key Sisters during the meaningful time.
