Kappa Delta New Member Program

	New Member Program Membership in Kappa Delta sorority is an honor, privilege, and responsibility. However, above all these things lies our remarkable tradition and sisterhood
					that has made KD the outstanding house that it is today. We are proud to say that Kappa is today. We are proud to say that Kappa Delta has previously won the "Best New Member Program" award! Our new members will also learn vital information regarding leadership, how to become involved on campus, positive study habits, etiquette and many other topics that are applicable to all areas of life, even outside of the sorority atmosphere.


	Our six—week new member program is designed to acquaint new sisters to KD using a variety of activities including weekly meeting, a new member retreat and big sis/lil' sis selection. Weekly meeting help acquaint new members with Kappa Delta’s philosophy, heritage, expectations, presentation, responsibility and future goals. Meetings are also a time to get you know your new sisters and spend time at the house. Every year the pledge class gets together for a new member retreat. It is a time to relax, have fun and really get to know the girls. This year’s pledge class is off on a road trip for their retreat to a surprise location! Big Sis/Lil' Sis After taking some time to get to know the sophomore pledge class, new members get to preference a big sis. The big sis acts as a mentor helping her little sis not only adjust to sorority life but college life in general. The best part of the program, however, is revealing of your big sis at String Hunt. The big sisters string hundreds of feet of yarn throughout all three levels of the house: the new members have to crawl army—style through the intwinement unraveling their string. The big sisters place gifts along with way with the best at the end—them!
	Above all, the new member meetings are an awesome time! We will grow closer to each other, strengthen our sisterhood, learn how to become better individuals, and keep our house on top. The new member program ends with the initiation of our new ladies. Initiation is an exciting and emotional time in which we invite our new members into our intimate circle of sisterhood. The new member program takes the new members from Bid Day through initiation: it is a time of growth, learning and the making of memories that will last a lifetime!
