Checklist of major points for attitudinal items
Start with the least socially desirable end of scale
Do not use rating scales with more than 4-5 verbal points; for more detailed scales, use numbers
Consider use of analogies (ladders, clocks, thermometers, etc..)
Limit ranking alternatives (3 at a time); or use paired comparisons or card sorts; consider data analysis.
