As a member of The Writing Life learning community, you will learn about both the artistic and the business sides of being a creative writer while living in Abel Hall. In class you will read and write fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction, as well as learn about editing, publishing, self-promotion, and other aspects of the business of writing. You will have special access to visiting writers and writers-in-residence, an annual program through UNL’s English department. Recent visiting writers have included Charles Baxter, Tim O’Brien, Naomi Shihab Nye, Randall Kenan, Lucille Clifton, and Sherman Alexi (coming in Jan 2013). New for the 2013-2014 Academic Year.
