Are you a storyteller? A poet? Do you dream of being a published author? Do you love language, reading, and/or writing?
As a member of The Writing Life Learning Community, you will learn about both the artistic and the business sides of being a creative writer. In class you will read and write fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction, as well as learn about editing, publishing, self-promotion, and other aspects of the business of writing. You will also have the opportunity to journey to literature festivals, and work with Dr. Timothy Schaffert.
You will be invited to meet visiting writers and writers-in-residence, an annual program through UNL’s English department. Recent visiting writers have included Charles Baxter, Tim O’Brien, Naomi Shihab Nye, Randall Kenan, Lucille Clifton, and Sherman Alexi.
