Godey's Lady's Book FULL TEXT (1830-1885)
Text and illustrations of the influential 19th century woman's magazine. early issues included biographical sketches, articles about mineralogy, handcrafts, female costume, the dance, equestrienne procedures, health & hygiene, recipes & remedies, sheet music, etc. Gradually the periodical matured into an important literary magazine and contained extensive book reviews and works by Harriet Beecher Stowe, Edgar Allen Poe, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and many other celebrated authors and poets and championed equality and education for women. Wellesley index to Victorian periodicals (1824-1900) INDEX

Wellesley index, it provides access to printed sources of Victorian
thought and opinion. Although of prime interest to those studying
