BASIC GUIDE
- Use an Index to periodicals
to find articles on a specific topic.
- These Indexes tell which issue
of a journal has a specific article on a desired subject.
- The following are some of the
significant indexes available through the UNL Libraries home page
at http://iris.unl.edu.
The direct link to the article index screen is
http://library.unl.edu/screens/indexstart.html
- These indexes can be accessed
from office or off campus. Instructions for off campus access can
be found on the Engineering Library homepage.
- The article indexes will give
you a reference, usually to a conference publication or to a journal
issue that contains an article on the specific topic.
- Search the online catalog at
http://iris.unl.edu to see if any
of the UNL Libraries has the conference publication (select "keyword")
or a subscription to the journal (select "journal title").
- Use the Interlibrary Loan service
at
http://www.unl.edu/libr/ill/ill.htm
to request the article if it is not available through the UNL Libraries.
- Some journals are available electronically
through the UNL Libraries. Information for "ELECTRONIC JOURNALS"
is available at the end of this guide.

be found under the link "RESOURCE", then "Electronic
Journals" on the University of Nebraska Libraries home page at
http://iris.unl.edu.
- "Electronic Journals"
is a link on the Engineering Library home page under the heading "SPECIALIZED
RESOURCES FOR ENGINEERING". This list is for physical sciences
and technology related electronic journals only.
Wiley
Encyclopedia of Electrical and Electronics Engineering
http://2020-www.unl.edu.library.unl.edu/journals/iris/wiley.html
The
Wiley Encyclopedia of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is a
unique, comprehensive reference work that defines the entire discipline,
bringing together the core knowledge from every one of the many specialties
encompassed by electrical and electronics engineering. It is the ideal
starting point for research projects, whether addressing basic questions
in power systems and communications, or learning advanced applications
in neural networks and robotics. In addition to electrical and electronics
engineering applications, the Encyclopedia features important topics
of interest to engineers, including: education; historical background
of fields in electrical and electronics engineering; patents; technology
and society; and computer and software engineering.
