Electronic Reserves & Blackboard

Introduction:

UNL Libraries and UNL Information Services have worked together to provide an automated connection between the My.UNL (Blackboard) Academic Portal and Library Electronic Reserves. This will allow instructors to continue to utilize e-reserves as they always have, but allow students and instructors alike to access those materials easily from within the academic learning environment, My.UNL (Blackboard). E-reserve materials can also still be accessed through the UNL Libraries website as before.

Accessing the materials from a course in Blackboard:

Instructors and students can access the proper electronic reserves easily from within the appropriate course in My.UNL (Blackboard). By default, the location for this link is located under "Tools" in the main menu. Then simply click on the link "UNL Libraries Electronic Reserves."

If on campus, links to documents will appear and be accessible. If off campus, the links for the documents will appear, but it may be necessary to authenticate after clicking on a link to a document. If this occurs, use your library patron ID or NCard ID number in order to access the materials.

Adding E-Reserves to the main course menu (instructors):

A link for UNL Libraries Electronic Reserves will automatically appear in the "Tools" area. However, it's also possible to add a direct link in the main menu of the course.

First, click on Control Panel. In the lower-left portion of the Control Panel, click on Manage Course Menu.

Next, click the "+Tool Area" button along the top.

From the drop-down menu for Area Type, choose "UNL Libraries E-Reserves." Next to Area name, type what you would like the button name to be-for example, "E-reserves" or "Course Readings." Click Submit.
