THE FOUNDATION CENTER
|
The Foundation Center is a national nonprofit organization established in 1956 to help grant seekers identify foundations and develop grant proposals. The Center publishes books, conducts seminars, and staffs five libraries in New York, Washington, D.C., Cleveland, Atlanta, and San Francisco. The Foundation Center's web site at www.foundationcenter.org is an excellent source of information for grant seekers. It provides links to foundation web sites; 990-PF tax returns for private foundations; the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance; tutorials on foundation research and grant writing; and other resources for grant seekers. The Center is supported by a network of "Cooperating Collections" in libraries and other nonprofit agencies in all 50 states. These agencies have core collections of Foundation Center publications and a variety of supplementary materials and services. Love Library at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is a Cooperating Collection, serving the citizens of Nebraska and the region. Foundation materials are in the reference section on 2nd floor and are available to the public whenever the library is open. Although staff at the Reference Desk can answer many questions, the Coordinator of the Cooperating Collection can give more extensive assistance.
