The Medieval and Renaissance Studies Excellence Fund supports the program in a number of ways.  We offer graduate students the Paul A. Olson travel awards, named for the founder of the program, to allow them to do research trips and present their work at scholarly conferences.  The Excellence funds also supports the awards in the undergraduate and graduate contests. We have begun the annual Mary Martin McLaughlin Memorial lecture that brings a medievalist to campus to each year to speak on medieval women. This lecture is named for the eminent medieval scholar who received her B.A. and M.A. in history from the University of Nebraska in 1940 and 1941.
