Broaden your horizons and learn about history and culture in person, via faculty-led programs or exchange programs. UNL faculty-led programs have visited China, England, France, Spain, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Turkey, Bulgaria, and Russia. Exchange programs and direct enrollment programs [e.g. ISEP, MAUI-Utrecht Network Exchange Program] open doors to additional European countries, including the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Morocco, Portugal, Malta, Denmark, Finland, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, and Belgium. Fulbrights

UNL is a leader in having undergraduates, graduates, and faculty winning Fulbrights. In 2011, UNL had a record nine winners, in a year when national applications were up by 40%. In 2015, UNL had five Fulbright winners, and 2 named as alternates. Three of the Medieval and Renaissance Studies faculty (Drs. Alison Stewart, Amy Burnett, and Carole Levin) have won Fulbrights. Paul Strauss, a Medieval and Renaissance Studies graduate student won a Fulbright to Germany.

Undergraduate Publication Opportunities

We encourage and support our students to achieve academically, which means not only do our students have high rates of UCARE and honors degree research, but also many who earn honors and awards. Student research can be published and is good preparation for a career in working on historical topics for blogs, video, and news sites on the Internet, such as BuzzFeed, Funny or Die, History Channel, Huffington Post, History News Network, History Today, Discovery, BBC History, New Historian, Not Even Past, and History Extra. Here are examples of recognized publications where undergraduates have published their work.
