Chinese

Great Wall

China, with the population of 1.3 billion, is the world's most populous nation and is home to one of the fastest-growing economies. Being also one of the world's oldest civilizations, China has the world's longest continuously used written language system. Most people find that learning Chinese characters is fascinating and that mastering the language itself brings personal and professional benefits.

As the one of the increasingly popular curriculums in Nebraska, the Chinese program at UNL offers language courses from elementary level to more advanced levels. Students will learn all four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing as well as the fascinating Chinese culture. The program builds a solid foundation for those who are not only interested in the language and culture but also planning to pursue a professional or academic career related to China. In addition, a series of Chinese seminars and panels will be hosted throughout the year, and provide multi-dimensional aspects of Chinese studies.
