Graduating with Distinction

If you are an outstanding major, you may qualify to graduate with Distinction, High Distinction, or Highest Distinction in French, German, Russian, or Spanish. High and Highest Distinction require that you write a thesis. If you wish to be considered for one of these honors:

  • Visit the Distinction and Thesis page of the Arts and Sciences Advising website
  • You must also register with the Vice Chair of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures
  • Discuss the selection of a topic and a director with your undergraduate major advisor

BEGIN THIS PROCESS EARLY: IN THE 2ND SEMESTER OF YOUR JUNIOR YEAR OR AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR SENIOR YEAR.
