Peter has a rather schizoid relationship
with scarabs. On the one hand, he is paid by the Queensland
sugar industry to help kill scarabs attacking sugarcane. On
the other hand, he has a strong interest in the systematics
of Australian scarabs, especially the Melolonthinae, Rutelinae,
and Dynastinae. These two facets are reflected in his research
and publication record.
Current systematics research focuses on describing new species
of Australian Melolonthini and Rutelinae. A long-term project
is to document the scarab fauna of Queensland, the most scarab-diverse
state of Australia. |
