The University of Nebraska's Varsity Men's Chorus is dedicated to the service of the University, the state, its members, and to the art of music. The chorus has a rich tradition dating back over 100 years. The Varsity Men's Chorus takes part in an annual inter-collegiate choral festival each fall on the campus that hosts the Kansas State vs. Nebraska football game. They have sung for state conventions of the Nebraska Choral Directors Association, the Nebraska Music Educators Association, plus appearances at the North Central Division Conventions of the American Choral Directors Association. The choir performed the musical soundtrack for the Nebraska Educational Television documentary “Husker Century” broadcast statewide and recorded a number of tracks for the “PRIDE OF THE HUSKERS” CD. The choir has been chosen to be a featured ensemble on the prestigious Intercollegiate Men's Choruses National Convention, an invitation that is extended to only the finest few collegiate men's choruses in the nation. The choir also owns a rich list of distinguished alumni that have gone on to lead choirs and music departments at major universities and Schools of Music across the country.
Membership is open to any male singer enrolled in the university. The Varsity Men's Chorus is a non-auditioned group, and students from throughout the University are encouraged to participate. For more information, contact Peter Eklund at peklund1@unl.edu (402-472-2993)
