Mike & Kim Havenstein
Mike and Kim consider themselves fortunate enough to have the best job in the world: telling college students about Jesus, and helping them grow in their walks with him! Since they themselves grew so much in their relationship with Jesus while in college, they understand the significance of this critical time of life!
Mike and Kim Havenstein have been on staff with the Navigators since 1996. Prior to moving to UNL in 2002, they served at the Universities of Cincinnati and Xavier in Cincinnati, Ohio. Since August 2002, they have been thrilled to serve with the Navigators at UNL, and now direct the campus, the Navigators oldest collegiate ministry. It didn't take long for their hearts to fall in love with Huskerland!
Mike and Kim met as students while attending Purdue University in Indiana. While there, Mike was part of Acacia Fraternity. They graduated in 1994; Mike with two BS's in Business and Agriculatural Economics; Kim with a BS and MS in Materials Engineering. Although both Mike and Kim became Christians prior to attending college, their years at PUrdue were marked as a time of significant spiritual growth and development. It was in college, as they were making other significant life decisions, that they grew in their skills of discipleship, evangelism, and scripture memory. They each worked fulltime within their majors before choosing to serve fulltime with the Navigators in collegiate ministry.
Mike and Kim have been married since October 1996, and have three children: sons Brayden and Connor, and a daughter, Abbi.
They are excited for what God is and will be doing in and through them.
