CTFscope

The CTF is a vital function in transmission electron microscopy. We develop the CTFscope to calculate the CTF with temporal and spatial dumping envelopes for conventional TEM, and to extend to various aberrations (up to fifth order) for AC-TEM. It also includes the envelope effects on the CTF and imaging due to aperture and drifts for tutorial purposes.

Simulation and Measurement with high Accuracy of Rocking curve for crystal Thickness

SMART is designed for simulation and measurement in high accuracy of the rocking curve for crystal thickness. The details of the two-beam electron diffraction theory can be referred to in many books on transmission electron microscopy, e.g., electron microscopy of thin crystals by Hirsch et al. (1967) and electron microdiffraction by Spence and Zou (1992).
The measurement of foil thickness is becoming increasingly important in electron microscopy due to the need for quantitative measurement of dislocation density, point defect concentration interparticle spacing, etc. The other application of sample thickness is frequently used for X-ray microanalysis.

Electron Microscopy Image Processing and Analysis: General Application

EMIPA is provided as a convenient tool for selecting area, resizing, and rotation of experimental images. It can measure the scale bar and transfer to the area selected from the image; make an FFT pattern and an IFFT image. A series of intensity profiles on HREM images can be retrieved and compared. Square and Inscribed circle of an arbitrary length for the FFT. Varies of masks are available for inversed FFT images. Tools for adding scale bars and indices for processed images and FFT patterns.

High-resolution Electron Microscopy Crystallographic Image Processing (new)

In EMCIP, the experimental image can be enhanced with crystallographic image processing. A contrast transfer function is included for correcting the crystallographic phase in the FFT data. Experimental electron diffraction intensities can be used to replace diffraction intensities in the FFT data. The image can be processed using pre-built the17 plane symmetry groups and displayed in the pseudo-color image and contour map.

ElectroStatic POTential of crystal structure

Landyne plus ESPOT is an extension of SAED5 and QSAED5 for the calculation of atomic electrostatic (difference) potentials of a structural projection. The electrostatic potential map can be used to correlate the HR STEM image and HREM structural image; the electrostatic potential difference map can be used to improve the structural model.

A real-time logging system for automatically managing multiuser equipment

A real-time logging system (RTLS) has been developed for managing multiuser equipment such as modern electron microscopes that are operated or controlled via a computer. The RTLS is designed to log the usage of the computer and thus the usage of the equipment. The RTLS is a small-size Java program, which is easy to install and use.
