Current Research

My research is in electronic theory of magnetism and magnetotransport; some of the current projects are:

  • First-principles studies of spin-disorder resistivity in magnetic metals
  • Development of new first-principles techniques to describe the electronic structure and thermodynamics of magnetic materials at finite temperatures
  • First-principles studies of magnetotransport in heterostructures, including spin injection into semiconductors and spin-dependent transport in magnetic and multiferroic tunnel junctions (collaboration with Prof. Tsymbal)
  • Development of Gd-doped oxides for neutron detector technology (collaboration with Prof. Dowben)
  • Surface magnetism of antiferromagnetic chromia (collaboration with Prof. Binek)
  • Noncollinear magnetism and piezomagnetic effects in antiperovskite compounds (collaboration with Prof. Sabirianov)
