Nebraska Internship Consortium in Professional Psychology

Spotlight

  • In 2008, Joe Evans (MMI) was awarded the American Psychological Foundation Cummings PsycheAward at the Annual meeting American Psychological Association, in recognition of an outstanding career that has expanded the role of the psychologist as a primary care provider working side-by-side with primary care physicians in the setting of organized systems of healthcare delivery.
  • In 2008, Mark Shriver and Keith Allen (MMI) published an APA book on parent training. Shriver, M.D. & Allen, K.D. (2008). Working with parents of noncompliant children: A Guide to evidence-based parent training for practitioners and students. Washington: APA Books.
  • In 2002 the American Psychological Association (APA) awarded the Nebraska Internship Consortium in Professional Psychology a seven-year accreditation. The next accreditation site visit will be held in 2009. Susan Zlotlow, Ph.D., director of APA's Office of Program Consultation and Accreditation writes, "Staff and intern relationships appear to be outstanding. Interns are provided ongoing feedback throughout the year and formal feedback on a semi-annual basis." The report also states that "Supervisors devote a significant amount of time to the internship with official release time granted to do so. Many hold prominent national positions and are recognized nationally and internationally for research or clinical skills." We are very pleased to receive this level of accreditation and we're proud of our commitment to excellence in scientist-practitioner training.
