This team increased understanding of distance education opportunites, identified ways to
better serve educational needs of lifelong learning through collaborative partnerships,
and identified critical issues and barriers. The team made forward-thinking recommendations
to address policy issues, enhance distance learning opportunities, and promote increased
planning for distance education. Five white papers, commisioned for a conference in 1998,
are being used in discussion with state policymakers. A summary
is also available of the papers.
A survey is being conducted to assess distance learning needs of individuals
and communities throughout the State. Recommendations for action will result
from the conference and survey activities.
