The team sponsored the Nebraska's Preferred Future conference, which brought together
representatives from more that 50 statewide groups including agriculture, business,
industry, communities, government and education institutions. The conference focused
on three strategies:
1) Keeping Nebraska's people competitive;
2) Keeping Nebraska's places competitive;
3) Keeping Nebraska's industries competitive;
Participants formed a vision of what Nebraska could look like in 10 to 20 years.
This action team's goal includes developing networking relationships between LEAD
Alumni,
NAC, RDC, NN21 and 50-60 various diverse groups from across Nebraska. Using
"New Seeds for Nebraska" as the foundation to evaluate and revisit
recommendations giving them a starting point for a series of white papers for
New Seeds and a comparative analysis. The ultimate objective is to
provide a
forum that provides a focus for consensus on issues that render
solutions, no
matter who has them or where they may be hiding, resulting in attaining
Nebraska's Preferred Future.
Detailed Goals:
- Forming of a diverse based set of common goals and objectives for NPF.
- Establishing a broadly based organizational commitments for these goals
and objectives for NPF.
- Measuring progress made toward the common goals and objectives by the
organizations that formed them.
- Forming a long-range plan and implementation to revisit the NPF goals and
objectives and renewal of commitments and the subsequent monitoring of
progress.
- Meetings across Nebraska resulted in a publication: Nebraska's Preferred Future. It is hoped that the document will "seed" discussion and debate, and to propmt action and participation by Nebraskans across the state. This document is fact-based, but also represents the observations of the contributors.
