NN21 Strategy Team
NN21 Strategy Team Co-Chairs:
Cecil Steward of UNL and
Kathleen Sullivan, Stakeholder, are the co-chairs for the NN21 Strategy team. Along with other Strategy Team members, they serve as liaisons to targets for learning. (Former co-chair, Don Edwards, became the NN21 Director on July 1, 2000.)
Roles and Responsibilities of the NN21 Strategy Team
1. Provide visionary leadership for the NN21 initiative:
- keep the vision alive
- set the context
- frame what we need to pursue; reaffirm NN21 goals
- link/stack similar activities (build an integrated rather than hierarchical structure)
- position action teams and demonstration projects
- provide support for action teams and demonstration projects in a living and dynamic system
- encourage partnerships and experimentation
- reward risk-taking
- build sense of community
- create environment for change
- strengthen communication links with action teams and demonstration projects
- transfer learning from informal to formal systems
2. Provide leadership in the creation of new action teams, regional teams and
demonstration projects, especially those that have a statewide focus.
3. Provide teams and projects with leadership, assistance, and support in:
- creating safe places for experimentation, learning, innovation, and risk-taking
- breaking down barriers to change and overcoming obstacles
- setting benchmarks and assessing progress
- aligning activities so they are integrative rather than competitive
- influencing change in formal systems
4. Encourage broader partnerships and communities
of learning across Nebraska. Focus externally on all of Nebraska and on partnerships with all higher
education and K-12 education.
