This team established a Steering Committee for Reinventing Argriculture and Natural
Resources Education, which spearheaded formation of a Governor's Task Force on Agriculture and Natural Resource Education..
and Natural Resource Education. Task Force goals are to integrate agriculture literacy
into the lives of all citizens and stimulate preparation of a more diverse, competitive
and productive workforce. The team also held two summits and gathered input from K-16
educators and business leaders from across Nebraska. Members partnered with the Nebraska
Department of Education to produce curriculm frameworks for agriculture and natural
resources education.
The action team will facilitate the development of curriculum frameworks
in agricultural literacy and agricultural education in cooperation with
the Nebraska Department of Education. The team also will develop a portfolio
program/review process for the transfer of secondary agricultural and natural
resource subject knowledge for post-secondary entry level credit. The team
will collaborate on curriculum efforts with other NN21 action teams and/or
demonstration projects such as the Food Systems for 2020 Action Team, the
Distance Education/Outreach Action Team, and the Biotechnology Education
Demonstration Project. Based on the recommendations from the February 10
summit, the Governor's Task Force was established to guide agricultural and
natural resources education in Nebraska. Task Force work will continue after NN21. Contact members for additional information.
