New Student
Orientation is an indoctrination program aimed at providing a general understanding
of military lifestyle. Our training is geared toward ensuring each new student
has a successful beginning at UNL NROTC. This one-week course is both physically
and mentally demanding, and requires significant personal preparation. Some
of the activities that at New Student Orientation include:
PT (Physical Training): includes running, hiking,
and calisthenics
Sail training
Swim training
Team building excercises
Close order drill
What should
you bring to New Student Orientation?
For All Entering NROTC Students:
OPMIS Form - Please include middle name
Shot record (measles, mumps, and rubella)
At least $35 for meals for the entire orientation week
$112 ($16 per night) for early dorm room for the week - Cash or Check
For College Program (non-scholarship) Applicants Only:
Birth Certificate (original or certified copy)
Report of Medical Examination and Report of Medical History (both must be signed by a physician)
For Scholarship Students (No prior enlisted experience)
Birth Certificate (original or certified copy)
Questionnaire for National Security Positions (Must include middle initials)
Established Checking or Saving Account (Account and Routing numbers are needed for Direct Deposit forms)
Required Items for all Students (Qty):
(1) Good pair of running shoes (broken-in)
(4) White athletic socks (PT shirts and shorts will be issued)
(1) Swimsuit (one-piece)
(1) Sunscreen
(1) Shower shoes
(2) Towels
(5) White crew-neck undershirt and white undergarments for wear under uniform
(1) Personal hygiene materials: (razor, shaving cream, toothbrush/paste, soap, etc)
(1) Padlock
(1) Small notebook
(1) Pen
(3) Sets of conservative and casual civilian attire
