Gaughan Family

The Gaughan Family

Mr. Jackie Gaughan is an Omaha native, known in the hotel and entertainment industry for being one of the first employers in Las Vegas to encourage diverse hiring practices. John and Barbara Gaughan made a gift to honor John’s grandfather, Jackie Gaughan. John is an alumnus of UNL, graduating in 1988 with a degree from the College of Business Administration. Like his grandfather and father, John is also a gaming innovator. John is a huge NU football fan and attends as many games as he can.

Gaughan has expressed his hope that the Center will provide students a place where they can come together with many unique individuals.

Half of the cost for the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center was provided by UNL students, who voted in March 2006 to move forward with the project and to increase student fees to assist with funding. Additional funding for the building is supported by the Gaughan Family, Kawasaki Motors Manufacturing Corp., USA and the University of Nebraska Foundation Grants Committee.
