OASIS at the Culture Center

Office of Academic Support and Intercultural Services (OASIS) supports all UNL students, although it places an emphasis on supporting students of color - giving them and minority student organizations an opportunity to be in a familiar environment. It provides student staff and Program Coordinators who are familiar with the special needs of students of color on a predominantly white campus.

History of OASIS

OASIS was created on August 01, 2003 through the amalgamation of three different programs:

  • The Minority Assistance Program
  • Office of Student Involvement for Minority Programs
  • The Culture Center

The Culture Center

The Culture Center, located at 333 N 14th, promotes ethnic traditions and serves as a community meeting place for all students with emphasis on Asian American, African American, Latino/a, and Native American students.

The Culture Center seeks to meet the particular educational, cultural, and social needs of ethnic students and their student organizations. Additionally, it seeks to educate others on campus about ethnic cultures and the contribution they make to the campus community.

Services provided at the Culture Center include social events, workshops, large meeting rooms, a resource library, study lounges, a computer room, a television, and a fully equipped kitchen.
