W.E.B. Du Bois Honor Society
The Office of Academic Support and Intercultural Services (OASIS) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is pleased to have its very own chartered chapter of the W.E.B. Du Bois Honor Society established in August of 2008! The purpose of this Honor Society is to honor the memory of Dr. William Edward Burghardt Du Bois by promoting the pursuit of academic excellence in all fields of higher education, to engage in service to others, and to recognize the outstanding achievements of the Society's members. Induction into this honor society recognizes personal accomplishment and serves as an incentive for continued scholarship. The Society provides a supportive environment that nurtures interaction with students in all academic disciplines.
The Du Bois Honor Society elected five students to serve as the governing board: Jeanette Samuels, President, Austin Brooks, Vice President, Alex Goldstein, Treasurer, Molly Young Public Relations and Jasmine Douglas-Reese, Secretary. The Society meets weekly and is currently working on selecting a community service project. Look forward to the formal induction ceremony later this semester.
