The Transfer Connection
Greetings,
What is academic engagement? It refers to the amount of physical and psychological energy that a student devotes to the academic experience. All learning and development requires an investment of time and effort by the student. Especially for transfer students, the extent to which you are engaged in learning and spend quality time in activities in and outside of class will impact your adjustment and satisfaction.
To be sure all your credit gets transferred make sure you have requested final transcripts from any work you completed since your application. To see if transcripts have been received, so go to WAM! and check "My Admission". Official transcripts should be sent to the Office of Admissions, 1410 Q Street, Lincoln NE 68588-0417. If final transcripts are missing a hold will be placed on your record and you will be unable to register for spring semester.
If your transfer courses do not have a UNL equivalent, it may be because the course has not yet been evaluated. These courses transfer as elective credit and must be reviewed by your adviser/advising center. The advisers may need input from experts in the field of study. All international credit without an equivalent must be evaluated by UNL faculty because of the differences in educational systems. See http://www.unl.edu/ous/student_programs/general.shtml
Many meetings and activities are held in the two unions on city and east campus. Due to high demand for space, rooms are not assigned until the day of the event, so activities and meetings list the room as Nebraska Union or East Union. You need to find the room either posted daily at several locations in each building (information desk, near elevators or stairs, etc.), or on-line at the unions web page. http://unions.unl.edu/. Select City or East Union and Today's Schedule. You can also find parking information and building maps floor by floor on the "Maps" menu.
So many opportunities to Study Abroad. Find yours at a GO Session in the International Affairs office (one building South of Cather-Pound) weekly at the following times: Wednesdays at 1 p.m., Thursdays at 11 a.m., Fridays at 4 p.m. http://www.unl.edu/iaffairs
